"I would like to thank all of the staff at Theravet for the care Louis has had. Louis has been going to Theravet for just over a year. When he was first referred he could hardly walk as he has spinal entrapment in 2 sections of his spine. This was a bid to avoid surgery for him. I was a little sceptical we could avoid the surgery but willing to try anything in order to achieve this.
Within a few sessions of Louis attending on a weekly basis you could already see the difference. Further on down the line they achieved amazing results. So much so that Louis started acting like a pup again and was back to his happy self again. It has been an amazing road to surgery prevention and can not thank the staff in how much care and dedication they have given my little pug. They are so professional and on the ball with him which has given me total confidence in them to ensure he maintains as much mobility as he can. I can not recommend these guys enough to anyone who is sceptical or sat on the fence over it. Louis is doing great especially for his age of nearly 9, which is good in pug years. He is back to jumping on the couch, going through the cat flap and generally having a good old time."

"The 2017 agility competition season has been one I will never forget. From becoming an agility champion to being the highest placed GB member at the European opens, Geek has been perfect. I am often asked 'what makes Geek so good?'. There are so many answers but I know I certainly owe so much credit to the Theravet staff. Knowing Geek is in peak condition enables me to run him at his best. With knowledgeable and dog loving staff, I know Geek is in the best hands"

Morse my Saint Bernard, (Saintjacks I am The Law) appeared at Crufts in 2013, he came 2nd in Limit Dog. Morse already has a Kennel Club Studbook number and is qualified for Crufts for life. In May 2013 my brilliant vets, Guy Carter and Raquel of Medivet Watford diagnosed him with Wobblers Disease, Morse walked like a drunk due to compression of a collapse disk on his spinal chord. Richard at Mill Hill performed a major operation to remove the collapsed disk, from which some dogs don’t recover.
Morse came home unable to stand and I felt I had made the wrong decision and I should have let him go. Morse learnt to walk again but then four weeks later suffered a perforated bowel and nearly died. Major surgery again and he continued to very slowly improve.
A referral from Medivet Watford, led me to Theravet in Chipperfield, for hydrotherapy in order to improve Morse’s rehabilitation. Ten sessions later with the wonderful Becky, who weighs 8 stone, (Morse is 14 stone) and Morse is on the way to recovery and walks a mile a day at least with no pain.
Morse will be competing at Crufts in 2014 and I have Becky at Theravet and Guy, Richard and their wonderful team at Medivet Watford/Mill Hill to thank

"I would like to thank Emma and Jess for the fantastic help they have given me with my dogs. It is very important to me that my dogs are fit and healthy. I train two golden retrievers and a border collie for competition obedience and ask for a strong commitment to their work, so therefore it is very necessary to know that they are physically fit in order for them to be able to work in the manner required, and also very significant that they move in a balanced way. Emma has the talent and expertise to spot any small irregularities they might have and make any adjustments necessary, she also advises me on a suitable fitness regime for them. Jess has taught me how to massage my dogs' pre work and after just like athlete's use. I teach others who also compete and Emma has now helped so many of their dogs. Most important is my dogs think she's great and cannot wait for her to touch them!!"

"Zecha was afflicted with a serious trapped nerve in his back following an exhausting day on our little grouse moor. Zechas problem with his back had been a recurring feature over a number of years and he was looking at the possibility of surgical treatment. Fortunately we put Zecha in Emmas hands. Emma had a wonderful touch with Zecha - she seemed able to feel the location of the damage in his back and treat it. Zecha developed a real liking for Emmas handling and she became a special person amongst his many friends."

"When Willow was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, I was devastated, not only because she was so young but also because of what having the condition meant. However, thanks to the love and support Emma and Jess have given to Willow during her treatment she is doing fantastically well. She loves her walks and playing again and loved it even more when it snowed, still managing to find a ball in the middle of a field covered in deep snow! Thank you both so much."

"We owe so much to Emma and Jess and the team at Theravet. They gave us an extra two quality years with our Jester. He had been hampered by arthritis and then by a spinal prolapse. We were astounded by their dedication and professionalism in making him well again and for their emotional support throughout the journey. When we first met them post operatively Jester could not walk at all. However, over many weeks they returned our dog to us and he was once more able to enjoy walks and get onto the sofa. We are so grateful."

"I first used Theravet 2 years ago when my black Labrador Izzy had an operation as she has Elbow Dysplasia. Izzy is a very nervous dog, but once she met Jess and Emma who were lovely she soon was so excited in going to her hydro sessions. I really believe it helped her with her recovery. Because she loved it and because Elbow Dysplasia is a disease and it is all about managing it for the rest of her life, we kept up with the hydro every 8 weeks as Jess and Emma could always monitor her. Unfortunately in November they saw a problem with her and off she went to the vets. She is now recovering from a half elbow replacement and has just started back to hydro twice a week. Izzy is so happy when she is in the water and is loving having a ball thrown to her. Thank you Theravet for doing a great job on Izzy's recovery."

"I just wanted to write to thank you both for all your support and advice with Lottie. It is amazing to see how far she is come from when she first hobbled into the practice, compared to now. I don’t believe she would have made the progress and recovery she has without the support and care you showed"

"When Colin, our 12 week old Cocker Spaniel, suddenly developed a limp the vet identified a problem with the left rear knee joint (stifle). Meanwhile the limping puppy had turned into one with three legs as he was holding the left rear off the ground at all times although apparently in no great pain. Both our vet and the specialist were unable to identify the cause but the specialist said to try physiotherapy before a major operation on the joint or worse still, an amputation. We were referred to Theravet at Chipperfield. By this time the bad leg had atrophied to the extent that there was virtually no muscle on the thigh at all and his left leg was noticeably smaller that his right.
Theravet swung into an intense program of Physiotherapy including Ultrasound and Laser and Hydrotherapy treatment. They also provided a programme of home rehab such as heat pad application and exercises to persuade Colin to put weight on the bad leg.
After a few weeks he was using the left leg again and after three months he became pretty well normal with almost equal muscle on both rear legs.
A miraculous recovery from a situation where amputation was contemplated. Our thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Theravet whose skills and advice have led to such a positive outcome."

“Going to Theravet is like taking your dog to his second family and watching miracles happen. Boris soaked up the love he received from everyone on the team and the place is incredibly peaceful. They gave us back our dog with at least 5 years knocked off – we have more time with him now and we can never thank them enough!!”

“Surgery saved our dogs life but it’s never the end of the story. Our brilliant vet recommended a brilliant rehab team and the change in our dog was amazing. Theravet is a rehab only practice so they work really closely with your own vet and it was a real team effort. Amazing value and such kind people. Can’t recommend them highly enough"

"I would certainly recommend Emma's expertise in McTimmony treatment, as she has successfully treated, not only my pony Jester but, also my horse The Joker, Hobby my Labrador who has osteoarthritis and has benefited from some hydrotherapy. My first patient to come to Emma for treatment was, however, my cat Remi who also had some hydrotherapy after a leg injury. I believe he is still the only cat to have taken to the hydrotherapy pool at Theravet with Emma and Jess in charge! Sadly he is no longer with us, but the sight of him swimming towards me across the pool was amazing! He was an awesome cat."

"Potten Farm Equestrian" have used the services of Theravet since we were the lowly owners of a couple of games ponies and did not own the equestrian centre. What will always stay with me is the sight of a petite lady with a large box, a clipboard and a smiley face 'magicing' my ponies into a new life. That was over 10 years ago and since then Emma has worked her magic fingers and machines on show jumpers, eventers and dressage horses, showing care and compassion with each animal. The latest horse Monkey being treated back into shape just days before going on to win the PetPlan Regionals at medium level. Running a fairly large yard we see a few physiotherapists come and go. A few are good, many are not. So if you are looking for the confirmation of a top class practitioner I would categorically recommend Theravet or more precisely Emma Vigor."

"Since qualifying as a veterinary physiotherapist, I have been amazed at the potential benefits of physiotherapy for our horses. As an equine veterinary surgeon, dealing with mild lameness and prolonging the comfort of older horses often present challenging problems. I have found that targeted rehabilitative therapy for these horses is often an effective way to tackle mild lameness. Older horses on long term anti-inflammatories have responded so well following physiotherapy that their daily dose can be reduced. It seems logical now that physiotherapy should play a much greater part in the care of our equine population, as it does in human medicine."

"I first met Emma when I took my English Springer Spaniel Jack to have some hydrotherapy and Laser treatment for the arthritis in his elbow. When I wanted someone to come and treat my little 14hh 20 year old Arab mare I asked Emma to come to see Dainty. An endurance ride vet had commented that Dainty was not quite right and felt that she had pulled a muscle in her back. Although Dainty won her race I also felt that she was reluctant to go down hill freely. Emma came and treated Dainty and ten days later Dainty went on to win the veteran Arab marathon. Dainty did not only win her class but also overall best condition, a most coveted award. Emma has now treated my other horses, again with great success. I will always be grateful to Emma for treating my horses with care and sympathy. It is most important that an endurance horse is 100%, so I will always use Emma when it comes to having my horses treated."

I can highly rate the service from Theravet both the small & large animal section. Both Becky & Emma have treated my German Shepherd dog fantastically over the years & in particular this past year following TPLO surgery. Jinx didn't enjoy the wobble board or the hydrotherapy. But they kept persevering & soon discovered she was a fan on the treadmill. Emma has been wonderful in treating all of my horses over the years. some of which were complicated cases & difficult horses. She treats them all with respect & kindness even when they are not being as kind to her.
When she first treated my youngster she could only treat him in the field as he was very nervous of strangers in his stable. However whenever she was visiting other horses at the yard she would go & see him & build the trust. She was the first to suggest checking with the vet to see if he had a sacroiliac problem which resulted in him later having a stay at the RVC and confirmation of a problem in his sacroiliac.

“I have been using Emma for my competition and retired horses for 15 years. She is not only kind and patient with them but her intuition for treating them all with the individuality they need stands out. They are looser, move better and recover quicker post injury whenever they see her”
